For Travel:
1.) To get to Seattle by plane:
For those flying to Seattle, SeaTac Airport is the best airport to fly into.
2.) To get to Orcas Island: There are two ways to get to Orcas islands from Seattle.
Option #1: ---Car + Ferry: The more popular method of travel is by car and booking a slot on a ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island. (See details below). Most people we have checked with are doing this option for the flexibility as they are continuing their west coast travels after our wedding.
On rentals cars from SeaTac airport: The rental car area is outside the terminals accessible by shuttle bus. Plan to allow 45 mins- 1 hour from landing to getting the keys to your rental car, before you hit the road.
On booking a ferry: [Ferry website]
Ferry tickets are released in 3 windows/tiers: at the start of sailing season, two weeks before sailing date, and two days before sailing date. We will send a reminder email to our guests before the two week mark as a reminder to book tickets. Please plan travel to allow for arriving 30-40 mins ahead of your sail time. Steven is a frequent two week ahead ticket booker for context on the availability of tickets.
Option #2: --- Biplane via Kenmore Air: An alternative for those shorter on time, is to take a small bi-plane from a nearby airport to SeaTac, called Boeing Field. You would fly via Kenmore Air to Eastsound, Orcas Island. We can pick you up from the airport in Eastsound and drop you off on the return if you chose this route.
Kenmore Air website (as of June) : $179 one way for the hour flight from Seattle to Eastsound, with an optional service to transport you from SeaTac to Boeing Field ($25 per trip). You can also Uber over too.
This could be an option to consider and it would be a beautiful way to see the Pacific Northwest on a shorter time schedule.
You don't need a car on the island if you don't want it, we have plenty of family and our own cars to shuttle people around; all wedding events, the main street of Eastsound and the Inns are walking distance apart.
Please let us know what questions we can answer and your final travel plans when you have them so we can track your arrival.
